Centre door knobs were very popular in the Georgian and Victorian era, they complement the doors symmetry especially when used on panelled front doors. They are generally larger that standard door knobs due to the fact there are no space constraints. This combined with suitably heavy door knocker and letter plate will compliment any door. The fixing method is designed in such a way as to not require a hole drilling through the door. The kit comprises of three different components. Firstly there is the tailors spindle, this is screwed to the face of the door with the screws provided, secondly the rose plate is placed over the spindle then finally the knob is screwed down onto the shaft making sure that the threaded grub screw opening is facing down. The final stage is to secure in place with the grub screw provided. To help you better understand the process we have put together a detailed product technical specification sheet, you will find this as a PDF link under the dimensions tab, here you will clearly see all the component parts.
